Bankruptcy Don'ts

  • Lie about anything to the Official Receiver
  • Use you bank, credit card or other accounts (See Bankruptcy Bank Accounts)
  • Obtain credit of £500 or over without informing the lender of your bankruptcy
  • Make payments direct to your creditors except those that cannot be included in the bankruptcy
  • Carry on business in a different name from which you were made bankrupt without telling all those with whom you do business the name in which you were made bankrupt
  • Be concerned in promoting, forming or managing a limited company, or acting as a company director without the courts permission

Bankruptcy Do's

  • Take Advice - particularly before deciding on bankruptcy!!!!
  • Co-operate fully with the official receiver
  • Provide any documentation and information asked for
  • Give the official receiver details of all your assets and liabilities
  • Inform the trustee about any income changes and assets you acquire during the bankruptcy
  • Continue to pay your rent and bills
